If we discount these other explanations of the Fermi paradox, then
we alone must be the most advanced civilization in the Galaxy.
It may be our destiny to be the first to explore the Milky Way Galaxy
and to colonize the stars with our descendants.
On the other hand, radio methods of communication are undoubtedly the
least expensive way, and we have only had this ability for an
instant (70 years) in Earth's history.
Goldsmith and Owen (2001):
"If we mean to be serious about finding other civilizations, our avenues are clear:
Keep looking, keep listening, keep thinking, and our chances for eventually
joining the galactic club will increase."
