Coude alignments help keep the blue beacon from drifting during slews. Needed when drift is excessive and makes realigning difficult when on sky./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>1.</font> Start with an M10 alignment before beginning the coude process./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> Usually done on pop 5/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>2.</font> Send M7’s to default/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>3.</font> Do regular beginning of the night alignment procedure./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> Align beacon, dichroic, focus labao, focus wfs/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>4.</font> Open an engineering hut gui/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> Ex. hutgtk -E S1 &/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>b.</font> i. ii. iii. iv. Values should match last entry on excel/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>5.</font> Turn powers on and enable scope(s)/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>6.</font> Dome gui, Auto tab/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> On Az Pos enter stow position + 180/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>b.</font> [Set Pos]</b>/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>7.</font> Watch beacon spots and use M7 to keep them centered while it rotates 180 degrees./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>8.</font> Obsgtk, align M7 when it stops moving/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>9.</font> Hut gui, enter new M7_1 and M_2 values in excel./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> Ignore last 3 digits, record first 4/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>b.</font> Spreadsheet will calculate the average value/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>c.</font> Enter the average value + 3 zeros for M7_1 and hit <b>[GOTO]</b>. Do the same for M7_2./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>d.</font> If its a large move watch the beacon spots as they move away because you will need to recenter them/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>10.</font> Use the dichroic to realign the beacon to labao/Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;;inherit;;inherit>11. Dome gui,</font> hit <b>[STOW]</b> to return to stow positon/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>12.</font> The beacon movement should be much smaller returning to stow than it was going away from stow/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>13.</font> Align M7/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>14.</font> Enter new actuator positions into excel/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>15.</font> Hut gui, send both actuators to the new calculated position/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>16.</font> Align dichroic/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>17.</font> If the beacon movements were small on the way back to stow, then the coude alignment is finished. If it wasn’t, repeat until it is./Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>18.</font> Hut gui, save the new M7 dichroic positions by hitting the<b> [DICHR POS]</b> then<b> [WRITE CFG] </b>/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>a.</font> It will save them to /ctrscrut/chara/etc/S2_aob.cfg/Times New Roman;;inherit;;inherit>19.</font> Can enter any notes on why coude alignment was needed on excel sheet.
Now you are set for labwfs Coude, but for the scopes with original M7 cones it is better to start with an Acquisition Coude instead of labwfs Coude.
As of 6/1/2021 only E2 has the new cones.
